The
Philippine Government, through the Department of Environment and
Natural Resources promulgates laws to protect and mitigate the natural
environment surrounding the Laguna Lake area.
The
Environmental Management Bureau of the DENR implement the laws
nationally and develop standards to address all facets of the
environment, including air, water, and other natural resources.
The LLDA is mandated to develop and protect the Laguna de Bay and its watersheds by coordinating and cooperating with existing governmental agencies in enforcing water quality standards established for agricultural, municipal and industrial waste discharges into the lake and using, among others, an Integrated Water Resources Management Framework.
The LLDA is a member of the Asian Environmental Compliance and Enforcement Network (AECEN) with a project of establishing Compliance Assistance Center (CAC) designed to assist industries such as hog farms to comply with environmental laws, policies, regulations and standards.
The Baras Business Council (BBC) is a stakeholder of, and located within, the watershed of the Laguna de Bay, the BBC has expressed commitment to the protection and sustainable development of the Laguna de Bay. Among the members of the BBC are businesses engaged in hog farming.
